Want to know what Rackers in these roles have to say about working at Rackspace?

In my role as a Lead Tech at Rackspace, the best part is knowing no two days will be the same! I can come in on Monday and solve a database issue for a Fortune 500 company, and on Tuesday I will be designing a migration plan for a web farm. Rackspace empowers me to take ownership of my customers and support them as though it was my own company. I have the opportunity to work with some of the smartest people in the industry and I enjoy coming in to work each day!” – Brian, Intensive Lead Tech

1 – Rackspace provides a tremendously rich and dynamic work environment, with deep technical talent in a team structure that gives you the opportunity to learn and develop skills in just months that would take years of experience in traditional IT departmental structure.
2 – Rackspace Windows techs are highly valued, with Support being one of the most prestigious positions in the company – not like any other support organization I’ve ever seen. Our techs drive product development, support policies and are generally regarded as the most trusted advisors on technical strategy and direction for the company.
3 – Being a part of a fast-growing, leading technical company, you still get the start-up, underdog feel, but are a recognized leader in the market, and have a very supportive management structure that encourages your technical training and development.
” –Kevin, Windows Sys Engineer

Security threats are constantly evolving and working in a high-paced administrative role provides in-depth skills with cutting-edge technology that you just can’t get anywhere else. Because Rackspace has so many customers and each customer has unique needs you get to see a little bit of everything while still being the authority on how things should be done. While our customers might have an idea of what they are trying to accomplish it’s up to us to advise, configure and maintain their security needs and devices. This role allows for extremely rapid technical growth without a large amount of responsibility on your shoulders.” –Daniel, Network Security Administrator

The best part about being a Lead Tech at Rackspace is the breadth of technology you get to work with. One day you will be building out a VMWare cluster, later that afternoon you will be troubleshooting an Apache/PHP issue. The next day you will work with a customer to integrate a Content Delivery Network into their site, and then you will solve a MySQL issue. Another great thing about working at Rackspace is that you are surrounded by experts in all technologies. If you are strong in Apache, you can help mentor someone who is not. If you are weak in VMWare, you can get mentored by a VMWare Certified Professional.” –Justin, Lead Tech

My philosophy in life is that you have to love what you do everyday. Working at Rackspace over the past 7 years makes this a reality because of the belief that each Racker should be in the role that fits them best. Because of this, along with the many opportunities for training that come up on a regular basis,  I have been able to stay up-to-date on not only the latest technology, but also dive deeper into the subjects that I really enjoy.  I have never worked anywhere that invested so much in their employees!!” -David, Network Security Admin
