Build The App Of Your Dreams

The NoSQL Mobile App Challenge opened this month, giving developers across the US and Canada the chance to build a mobile app that showcases their creativity and innovation without the pain of managing their infrastructure.

To help you get started, we created ObjectRocket and Rackspace accounts tailored specifically to the needs of contestants. The only requirement for each app entered is that it must use ObjectRocket NoSQL data services with either MongoDB or Redis.

Apps will be judged on how useful the application is to the intended consumer, how easy it is to use, how original the concept is and how well ObjectRocket is integrated into the app.

Contestants have until November 4, 2014, to build and submit your app. Winners will be announced on December 9, and the grand prize winner will receive $10,000. Additionally, we have second place, third place and popular choice cash prizes of $7,000, $2,000, and $1,000, respectively.  All of the prizes (except the popular choice category, which will be voted on by the public) will be awarded by our celebrated panel of judges: Kenny Gorman, co-founder of ObjectRocket; John Engates, CTO of Rackspace; Sarah Lacy, CEO, founder and Editor-in-Chief of Pando Media; and Andy Weissman, Partner at Union Square Ventures.

Participants who open up a Rackspace account also have access to a StrongLoop Node.js backend-as-a-service deployment.  With the StrongLoop deployment, Rackspace automates the provisioning of your cloud resources, and sets up StrongLoop using the documented best practices.  Once the deployment is up, you can get started consuming StrongLoop’s LoopBack services!

We want to set developers like you up for success, and we want to make sure you have an amazing app-building experience during the NoSQL Mobile App Challenge, powered by Rackspace and ObjectRocket.  We want you to build the app of your dreams, so sign up now, and don’t let this app become a dream deferred!
