Every day our customers ask how they can improve their performance — in terms of speed, throughput, reliability and predictability. As we head into the holiday season, those calls come with increased urgency. Businesses turn to Rackspace to help them get their new offers to market faster and to scale their users, data and transactions to meet the upcoming holiday rush.
Rackspace helps customers achieve the performance their users and business demands with a three-part recipe:
One frequent request we get is from customers who run their workloads on a group of dedicated servers or on a private cloud and need to burst their capacity, sometimes by magnitudes of 10 or more, for a certain period of time. Bare-metal dedicated servers or private cloud give customers stable, predictable performance and full control of the security of their environment. They are great for stable workloads, but it takes time to add or change the physical footprint when business needs change.
These customers find huge value in the way that Rackspace can connect powerful dedicated servers on the back-end to run their databases, with master web servers, and scale out the web and database reads in the public cloud. We can do this either manually for a known period of time, or automatically as the load spikes and drops. The dedicated servers always run, and the cloud picks up the excess load when it is needed. This model is best known as “own the base; rent the spike.”
An architectural picture of a dedicated database with cloud web servers might look like this:
And here’s a picture of what that could look like with a dedicated private cloud:
These are simple examples of how our customers are using our hybrid, open and Fanatical approach to meet the performance needs of their users and their business. There are many more in the Knowledge Center and you can call us any time for advice.
Rackspace has both the tools and the expertise to meet whatever performance challenge you’re facing. Our commitment extends far beyond providing the infrastructure resources when you deploy or scale. Every day we help our customers design faster and build faster. We help them achieve their business goals by helping them meet the needs of their users
The only question left to answer is: how can Rackspace help YOU perform?
