Set Up Autodiscover

Autodiscover is the best way to receive the full benefits of our hosted email solutions.

So what is Autodiscover?

Autodiscover is a service that allows users to easily configure their email client knowing only their email address and password. E-mail clients that make use of Autodiscover include Outlook 2007, Outlook 2010, Outlook 2011, Mac Mail, Entourage 2008 WSE and many smartphones. Autodiscover also enables additional features for Microsoft Exchange mailboxes such as: Downloading the Offline Address Book, viewing Free/Busy time in calendar, and Out-of-Office assistant.

Note: Autodiscover for Rackspace Email configures email clients for IMAP and SMTP, however, it is not compatible with Outlook 2011 and Mac Mail.

Will end users notice that Autodiscover is enabled?

If a mailbox is connected to an email client that utilizes Autodiscover (e.g. Outlook) you may receive a pop up similar to the one shown below:

This pop up is simply in place to inform you that your account is being redirected to another address. As long as the pop up matches the address shown in the screenshot above, you may select Allow so that your email client may begin using Autodiscover’s features.

Note: It is important that you only allow settings from sources you know and trust. If the address shown in the pop up does not match the screenshot, you should consult your administrators for further assistance before proceeding.
